Prerequisite For a World Beyond War: Nonviolent Dissent and Accompaniment

A talk by Kelly Kathy, founder of Voices for Creative Nonviolence. Having just returned from Afghanistan, Kathy Kelly will speak out against notion that U.S. wars are protecting and defending people in the U.S. from enemies that threaten our security, and share what she sees as the way out. Inter-religious Gathering: Gandhi and the Practice of Nonviolence. 
Sunday, September 28th, 5:30 pm. In this special interfaith dialogue, religious leaders from Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, and Muslim communities will reflect on Gandhi’s teachings and practice of nonviolence in the light of their traditions. Deep Listening: a nonviolent communication workshop with Lou Zweier.
Tuesday, September 30th, 6:30 pm. Deep Listening utilizes the principles of Nonviolent Communication™ to create understanding and compassion for yourself and others. Lunchtime Conversation with Michael Nagler.
Saturday, October 4th, 12:30pm. A short presentation followed with a Q & A and conversation on lessons of nonviolence from the past and the present of “the greatest power mankind has been endowed with.” – Gandhi. Workshop with Alternatives to Violence.
Saturday, October 4th, 2:30 – 4:30. The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a volunteer-run conflict transformation program. A team of three AVP facilitators will conduct an experiential workshop to develop participants’ abilities to resolve conflicts without resorting to manipulation, coercion, or violence. Great for community leaders, teachers, managers, or people just wanting to gain new interpersonal skills. Typically, each workshop lasts 18–20 hours over a two or three-day period, but we are offering a free two-hour workshop which will give you a deeper understanding of AVP’s work.
