We provide educational resources on the safe and effective use of nonviolence, with the recognition that it’s not about putting the right person in power but awakening the right kind of power in people. We advance a higher image of humankind while empowering people to explore the question: How does nonviolence work, and how can I actively contribute to a happier, more peaceful society?
I found this presentation exceptional. It sounds like it was given by someone else, not Michael Nagler. Would you be able to post the name of the speaker?
I so enjoyed the last quote; I could not understand the person referenced; the recording isn’t very clear. He had an experience that broke through the barriers of creed and religion, meeting Christ, Love Incarnate. Yes, this is the message of the Gospels: Christ, Unconditional Love and Unarmed Truth became a man and dwelt among us, to show us the heart of God, to show us how to live.
According to what I read in the New Testament, Christ did end sacrifices of animals. One other aspect is that when humans commit a wrong we feel healthy guilt. His sacrifice is so that He can cleanse our consciences of this guilt so we can learn and grow from it.
Oh, and the part about the temple. Christ “made a lash” to drive out the animals from the temple. I have a picture of a girl about the age of 12 using a “lash” to “steer” her team of oxen. Very nonviolent. Another reason Christ cleared the temple is because the money changers and sellers were unfair in their dealings, charging more than what was fair, causing harm to the people. Nonviolence at the heart.

Thank you for this excellent presentation.
