The Dalai-Lama to Retire from Politics

Without abandoning his role as the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, the Dalai-Lama at age 75 has announced that he will officially retire from his official role as head of the Tibetan government-in-exile.

His move from politics continues to align with the values of principled nonviolence from a Gandhian perspective. Once a representative from the church in England once said to Gandhi: “We are both men of God.” Gandhi’s reply was: “You are a politician disguised as a man of God. I am a man of God disguised as a politician.”

May the satyagraha continue for the Tibetan cause.
