Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists invites you to join Marc Pilisuk and Michael Nagler for presentations
The event will feature Dr. Marc Pilisuk’s penetrating analysis from his new book, The Hidden Structure of Violence: Who Benefits from Global Violence and War (with Dr. Jennifer Rountree; Monthly Review Press, 2015). Also included is Dr. Michael Nagler’s detailed and inspiring action guide, The Nonviolence Handbook: A Guide to Practical Action (Berrett-Koehler, 2014).

About the Presenters
Marc Pilisuk is Professor emeritus of Human and Community Development at UC Davis and currently on the faculty of the Saybrook University specialization in Transformative Social Change. In 1965, he was a founder of the first Teach-in 1965 and of the Psychologists for Social Responsibility in the seventies. Among Marc’s national awards for teaching, research and activism is the Howard Zinn award presented by the Peace and Justice Studies Association in 2012
Michael Nagler is the founder and President of Metta Center for Nonviolence. He is Professor emeritus of Classics and Comparative Literature at UC, Berkeley, where he co-founded the Peace and Conflict Studies Program. Among Michael’s many awards, he received the Jamnalal Bajaj International Award for “Promoting Gandhian Values Outside India” in 2007, Michael has worked on nonviolent intervention since the 1970’s and served on the Interim Steering Committee of the Nonviolent Peaceforce.
Marc and Michael were co-editors of a sweeping three-volume anthology, Peace Movements Worldwide.
