Unconquerable: Daily Metta

“The proper way to view the present outburst of violence in the world is to recognize that the technique of unconquerable non-violence of the strong has not been at all fully discovered as yet.” ~ Gandhi, Mind of Mahatma Gandhi, p. 147

Gandhi made this statement close to the end of his life, in 1948. The “outburst” has gotten worse, while the discovery of the only sovereign remedy, nonviolence, has still to be “fully discovered.” However, we have not stood still there, either.  Nonviolence is more frequent—of late, more the “technique of choice” than violence for freedom struggles—and better understood. We have every reason to take heart, and continue.

About Daily Metta

Book cover imageStephanie Van Hook, the Metta Center’s executive director, launched Daily Metta in 2015 as a way to share Gandhi’s spiritual wisdom and experiments with nonviolence.

Our 2016 Daily Metta continues with Gandhi on weekdays. On weekends, we share videos that complement Michael Nagler’s award-winning book, The Search for a Nonviolent Future: A Promise of Peace for Ourselves, Our Families, and Our World.
